IgG Antibody Testing Service

As with other therapeutic proteins, IgG antibody formation towards recombinant alpha-L-iduronidase may occur. Patients who are positive for IgG antibodies have a higher risk of developing a hypersensitivity reaction. In general, the symptoms are manageable by administering pre-treatment with antihistamines and/or corticosteroids and by reducing the infusion rate.

Genzyme encourages treating physicians to collect serum samples for antibody testing prior to a patient's first infusion and then every three months after start of enzyme replacement therapy for two years. The antibody testing service is free of charge. Please contact your local Genzyme representative or contact Genzyme Belgium for more information
